MacFamilyTree's redesign is completely user-centric. The entire GUI can be adjusted to fit your needs. Features can be hidden to help focussing on the most important functions. Text boxes and other items you'll frequently use may be resized to allow for easier handling and editing.

With version 5.2, our new 3D view »Virtual Tree« allows you to freely navigate through the complexity of your family relations. The Virtual Tree visualizes your entire genealogy databases. From all perspectives, close-up and from a broader angle, MacFamilyTree renders a three-dimensional mesh of persons and their relations. Highlight common characteristics using different colors and shapes. Navigating the »Virtual Tree« is simple: just point, click and drag with your mouse, or use a dedicated »Navigator« to literally fly through your own ancestry.

Global perspective
We have replaced the World Map from MacFamilyTree 4 with our "Virtual Globe", a spherical view of the Earth. On the globe you can retrace the paths of your ancestors, aided by a huge database of locations worlwide and satellite imagery. For geolocations not yet in the database, we have added a quick link to Google Earth, but you can always define them manually if need be.

Just like its predecessor, MacFamilyTree 5 offers a wide variety of different ways to analyze your data. What's new is that you may now modify the reports and, as with charts, edited Reports are now stored within the family tree for your reference at any time.

If you run your own website, you may want to show the family tree somewhere on those pages: just include the HTML code somewhere on your site. Whichever way you choose, MacFamilyTree 5 supports all of them just fine. Your friends and family may access your family tree with their usual Web browser, with or without password protection.

As a major improvement over previous versions of our software, also edited and saved charts can now be included in HTML pages created with MacFamilyTree. This gives research teams a far more focused way of collaboration.
