Notes for users
Localizations
PeaZip uses UTF-8 encoded text language files, so it can be translated
in any language.
Language
files of previous versions can be used by PeaZip without problems
(missing text will appear in english); different revisions (last letter
after
major and minor version number) uses exactly the same
text.
Hopefully more localizations will
be released with the help of the community: you can mail me
translated language files to be included in future revisions or
updates, see
"Translations" chapter in documentation
(or ask on the forum)
if you are willing to contribute a translation in your language.
PeaZip portable
You
can simply
unpack PeaZip portable in the
path you prefer and use it, even on the
network or on
removable devices as USB sticks; it will not modify the host
system.
PeaZip installable
PeaZip installable, either for Windows and Linux, needs to
run with administrative privileges.
The program can be installed once from administrative account and then
any user running it will have their own private configuration and
bookmark files saved on the user's profile home (Linux) or application
data (Windows) folder.
64 bit versions
While PeaZip's 64 bit packages are meant for 64 bit systems only,
PeaZip's 32 bit packages can be used on 64 bit Windows or Linux systems
(for
Linux, omit architecture
check for 32 bit installable packages or use _portable packages); 32
bit backend binaries can be freely
replaced with 64 bit
counterparts (if available) for performance optimization.
Customisation
See documentation (and FreeDesktop_integration
folder in Linux packages)
for hints about integration of PeaZip in the desktop environment
(Gnome, KDE, Windows...): file
associations, start menu, service/context menus, SendTo, links, scripts
and command line...
Troubleshooting
You can find known issues reported on FAQ page, or on SourceForge
project's forum
or bug
tracker, which can be used also to report new issues or suggestions.
On Linux systems,
if missing
libraries are reported installing PeaZip
or the first time you
run peazip binary (you can launch it from a console for detailed
feedback),
please follow your package manager instruction to install them. Usually
missing libraries are standard and widely available gtk/gtk related
components (like
libgdk_pixbuf) .
Release notes
Release 2.3 benefits of
the strong feedback catalyzed from previous version of the program,

accounts under Windows and Linux, password/options dialog before
