It was a mood diary, not unlike Optimism, that was a big key for me in understanding my illness. I made great gains by reading back through the diary periodically, and by looking at the data visually in Excel. The things that triggered depressive episodes became clearer, as did the things I could do to stay well. In time I gained control over my depression. This is the purpose of Optimism, to help people understand their own illness and to take control.

Thanks again for work on this software. I've already recommend it to a few people! During my therapy my doctor gave me homework that involved tracking daily patterns of sleep and behavior and I still take notes and this app will help organize it all:)

What a great program... I found it at the perfect time.  My psychiatrist has been on me to chart my moods daily, and I've found it hard to do.  I really think this will enable me to actually make it happen.  I can't wait to show it to him... I think he'll wind up recommending it to all of his patients! It's a great tool.

Your software is truly a blessing. I am bipolar and have always found it difficult to track my moods. Pen and paper just doesn't work sometimes, especially while going through an episode. This tool will greatly improve my ability to keep a journal of my ups-and-downs. Being that I'm a visual person the graphs will help me visualize my emotions in a way not possible before. I can't wait to share this with my psychiatrist and therapist, they are going to be thrilled with the idea and it will make a big difference in how we communicate...I'm glad you had the foresight to create Optimism, you truly understand what we go through. Thanks! I am really getting a lot of use out of the Optimism software...It helps me to carefully evaluate how I'm doing and I am going to take my stuff into my therapist in the coming weeks when I have more data collected. :) ...So, yah, it is a great little program! This software is so very helpful. I have tried to use a journal to keep track of moods and triggers but it has not ever worked well. At my lowest points it has not worked at all. I think (hope!) that doing the charting and seeing what affects my moods and functioning may help keep me from being hospitalized again. Thank you for all the thought, work and skills that you put into this program...this is probably the most useful tool (after therapy and medication) for me as I work to get better.

I wish to thank you for this effort in computing and mental health benefit; it is the perfect companian for the persion who, like me, hates to record their daily mood, medications etc. It enables the person to record information easily, and someone in a confused state may find this extremely helpful with other assistance. You are still selling this at an extremely low price. Thanks for updates for life - a gift when the developer offers such a bargain, especially something like this that can only develop upwards.
