Suitcase users put a lot of time into adding the right fonts to Suitcase and sets. When Suitcase starts doing strange things, the standard answer has always been to trash its preferences and start over. Many users would rather suffer through Suitcase problems than spend hours adding back fonts and sets and risk selecting the wrong fonts.

Export and Import Suitcase Sets was written to help resolve Suitcase problems without requiring users to start over from scratch. This software also makes it possible to share sets with co-workers and take your sets with you when moving to a different Mac.

• Suitcase is doing strange things and you're about to trash your Suitcase preferences. Export Suitcase Sets first to preserve your sets, disable your Suitcase preferences, then Import Suitcase Sets to put things back to normal.

• Your group is licensed to use the same fonts and you'd like everybody to have the same sets. Export Suitcase Sets on one computer and Import Suitcase Sets on the other computers.

• You've got a new computer and you'd like to keep your sets and fonts. Export Suitcase Sets on your old computer, then Import Suitcase Sets on your new computer.
  

Compatibility

Export and Import Fusion Sets has been tested with PowerPC and Intel Macs and Mac OS X 10.3.9, 10.4 and 10.5. (Versions of Suitcase Fusion prior to 12.1.2 didn't support the command to add fonts to the Font Vault.)

Export and Import Suitcase Sets has been tested with PowerPC and Intel Macs, Suitcase 10, Suitcase X1, Mac OS X 10.2, 10.3, 10.4 and 10.5. Suitcase Server is not supported at this time. Please request if you're looking for this or other features.

Function

Export Suitcase Sets gets a list of set names and font locations from Suitcase and creates an export file. Import Suitcase Sets gets a list of set names and font locations from an export file and adds them to Suitcase. If a font can't be located, an error is logged. Export and Import Fusion Sets also exports the Suitcase Fusion Font Vault and aliases to sets within sets.
