We are very excited about this product and will continue to improve it. Currently we are working on version 1.1 which will have some new features but most of all it will focus on one thing: Less typing!

announcement: Lack of replies to emails

Dear users/visitors,

With this message we would like to apologize for the lack of replies to many emails we have received, mostly concerning problems with RSS Menu.

The reason for this is that we have been working on other projects and thus have limited to no time at all to work on our own products. Rest assured though that we have received your emails and have read them.
Now that most of those other projects are (partially) done, we can head back to our own schedule and work on our existing and new products.

Feel free to continue to contact us, we really appreciate your feedback.

Sincerely,

e dot studios team

News: RSS Menu 1.11.1 in beta

Just a quick message for the people that are having problems with RSS Menu 1.11. We are fully aware of the problems it has and are currently beta testing a new version.

Once this version passes, we will release an update asap.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Update: RSS Menu 1.11

RSS Menu 1.11 has been released today. It doesn't have any new features (since we are still working on 2.0) but it has a bunch of bug fixes and enhancements.

The reason of this release is simple: RSS Menu 2.0 will require Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard). However, since version 1.10.x was quite buggy, we decided to make a new update just to support the people that have not yet switched to Leopard.

On the technical side of things, 1.11 uses the core of 2.0 and so it should feel much more faster than any version of RSS Menu that has gone before it. Therefore, fixing bugs in 1.11 will be much easier than if we had used the 1.10.x core.

So while we work on version 2.0, please update your copy of RSS Menu to 1.11, it's free (but you know we like donations).

News: State of RSS Menu 2.0 (and 1.10.x) (part 3)

First let me get something out of the way. There won't be any further development on RSS Menu 1.10.5.1 and older. We are well aware of the fact that this release has some bugs, like the read articles not being remembered. You can still send us questions about it, but we will not release an update any time soon.

The biggest reason for this is that we have our hands full with RSS Menu 2.0. The core of this application has been upgraded and is much better. It's almost a 50% rewrite from the previous version and allows us to add more features, without having to modify the code base.

I can't tell you yet about the new features in version 2.0, only that it runs and is wicked fast!! One thing I can say is that Keychain support now works as it should.

Other than that, RSS Menu 2.0 looks pretty much the same as 1.10.x, well not entirely the same :)

News: State of RSS Menu 2.0 (part 2)

So after a bit more than a week, RSS Menu is finally starting to take shape. We have fixed several ancient bugs and optimized the application a lot. For instance, back in the 1.x days, the menu itself was updated almost constantly, which is the main reason why RSS Menu would sometimes generate a lot of CPU activity.

On the current internal version, we only update when it's necessary, eg when a new menu item is added (like the "Update all feeds"). The way we process groups is also much better.

Currently we are working on OPML export/import, the RSS Menu Library and making sure the app doesn't crash or hang.

Again, once this process is done, we can start adding the exciting new features.

So keep reading..
