what is Kung-Tunes?
Kung-Tunes is a with AppleScript Studio created OSX donation-ware utility to retrieve the currently played iTunes track and upload it to a webserver. Any scripts on that webserver can then access the uploaded file to dynamically display iTunes tracks on a webpage. An example can be seen on my weblog (right-hand side bar). A screenshot of the application is shown below, featuring the main window. Either manually or at timed intervals, Kung-Tunes retrieves the currently playing iTunes track, saves it to file, and uploads the file to a specified webserver. Details are provided in the accompanying readme file and an extended tutorial is available on my weblog. For the latest Kung-Tunes (2.2), also read this blog entry on how to use the HTTP POST option.

- neptho: Beautiful meld of script hackery. Bravo, kungfoo - Easy and pretty enough for the juniors, and with enough of a skeleton for us geeky folk to utilize to wrap our own bits, if so inclined
- schmelding: Kung-Tunes, will you marry me?
acknowledgments
Kudos to Apple for their awesome Project Builder and Interface Builder apps. Surely makes developing as easy as boiling an egg. The included source code illustrates how to set up an AppleScript driven GUI, call a UNIX shell command, create a preferences file, add a custom icon, talk to iTunes, text manipulation, and some more stuff. Almost all of it is learned from browsing through Apple's own examples.
Special thanks also to Jason Perkins, Randy Sesser, Bernie Case, and Neil Lee.
